The Goldenstone Fly Box has been designed by Kurt Chenuz. He has combined his passion for fly fishing, woodworking, and engineering in designing and buiding these functional and beautiful fly boxes. They were prototyped and utilised over a four year period by various fly fisherman before the final design was adopted. Kurt personally selects the wood for unique grain highlights and hand builds and finishes each fly box.
This one-piece construction fly box has been carved out of solid wood. The fly box has two sides of different depths. This design feature and the box's ideal size allows the fly fisherman to carry nymphs, streamers, and dry flies in one box without damaging the delicate hackles of the dry flies. The insert foams are of the highest quality and the box has been designed so that they can easily be replaced. The fly box has an inner lip carved into each side in order to secure the foam inserts. The fly box measures 4 1/2 inches wide by 6 inches high by 1 1/2 inches in depth.
These fly boxes are hand finished with multiple coats of Tung Oil. The finish was selected for its durabiity and the ease with which the fly box can be brought back to its original beauty by simply wiping on another coat with a cloth. The solid brass piano hinge and clasp highlight each fly box and have been choosen for their durability and strength to ensure life-long trouble-free use. As with all of Kurt's products, they are tested for durability and designed to be heirlooms passed from one generation to the next.
